Mammillaria is one of the largest of the cactus family. Most of them are globose which grow either solitary or in clumps. Mamillaria come in a large variety of colours and can have a range of different spines from sharp, thick and spikey through to hair-lik. Showy flowers form in the axils and differ in colour in different species. It thrives in well drained soil in full sun, dry conditions and poor soil. Don’t over water, allow plant to dry out a little between watering. Ideal for containers and sunny hot spots in the garden.
